Barneys has announced a partnership with the IBM Watson technology to deliver an “ultra smart shopping experience” for its customers.
The collaboration with the US software giant is expected to create 100,000 jobs in the UK.
IBM Watson will be the “biggest digital assistant ever” in the Barneys shop, said the company, adding that it will help with the “delivery of our best-in-class customer service”.
The company said Watson will help it make decisions based on data, such as when a customer is coming into the store and whether they have an order.
The Watson will also help with “the delivery of a range of customer service and merchandising solutions”, including the “super smart” barcode reader, which can read barcodes from a range for its clients.
It said the technology will be used “in a range the company has never been before”, including to “improve customer engagement” in store “by providing an unprecedented range of new services”.
IBM Watson and Barneys are set to become the biggest digital assistants ever.
