Newberrys, the new owner of the Newburyports grocery chain, announced Monday it will open a store in New Bedford, Mass., the third such store in Massachusetts.
The Newbury Ports is the second Massachusetts location for the chain, which has previously opened stores in Worcester and New Haven.
The company will have a new retail store in Boston and a second store in Cambridge.
The new location will be located at 549 South Main Street in Newbridge.
Newberry said the store will feature a wide variety of groceries from local to national chains and a full-service pharmacy.
Newburyports has had a busy spring.
In April, the company announced it was expanding to New York City.
In September, the store moved from its original location in New London, Conn., to its new location in the town of Newbury.
The store is expected to open its doors in early 2017.
The company’s decision to open a new location is another sign of Newberry expanding into the New England market.
In June, Newberry opened a store on South Street in Boston, where it is the largest grocery chain in the state.
In December, the chain announced plans to open an additional 20 stores in New England.
