A couple of weeks ago, the BDSMs Kings department store opened in Kingsgate, London, which is the latest addition to the ever growing range of gaylord shops that dot the world.
In the space of just two months, Kingsgate has attracted over 50 people, including and and more.
It’s not just the people who are attracted to the BDSMS stores that are in town.
“The whole city is looking for a gaylord and the number of gaylords that we’re seeing in London is amazing,” said and friend Michael.
I know a lot of gay people who have found themselves here.
They’re really excited about the space, Michael said, adding: “It’s like being in a museum with lots of people you don’t know, and you can just sit down and relax and you’ll be doing it for a long time.”
In addition to having a wide range of items, the gaylord store has a small bar and lounge, and an on-site kitchen and coffee bar.
“We’re going to be able to cater to people of any sexual orientation,” Michael added.
It was and still is a very gay-friendly shop, with a “buddy list” of all the gaylords you can find in the area, according to Michael.
There is also an on site cafe, with coffee, tea and snacks available, as well as a “dubstep” DJ booth and a large selection of vintage vinyl and record collections.
The gaylord shop has a specialised LGBTQ outreach team that helps people get started with their sexuality, and has been working to make it more inclusive for queer and trans people.
And, as Michael said, the Gaylord is definitely in the gayborhood.
When asked about the gayboys shop in the Kingsgate section, “we have a gayborrowed theme in the shop,” he said.
“We have a lot more gaymen coming into the shop because we’ve been getting loads of referrals from people who work in the queerborhood and are keen to know what’s going on there.” He added: We’re really looking forward to seeing how the store develops and where it goes next.
