A year ago, Amazon announced it was buying hardware maker Saks Fifth Avenue for $1.2 billion.
Now, the online retailer is adding some of the most popular products from the luxury department store chain to its own e-commerce offerings.
The Echo, a $99 speaker that Amazon said would be available in fall 2018, is part of the $2 billion deal.
The deal includes the Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Tap, Echo Plus, Echo Sport, Echo Wand and Echo Pro.
The company is launching two new e-stores in New York City and San Francisco, the company said Thursday.
The first is the online store Amazon.com/e-store , which will be available for purchase starting today and will include a wide range of products, including clothing, accessories and electronics.
The store also will offer Amazon’s exclusive line of Alexa-enabled products.
The second is Amazon.de, which will feature the Amazon Echo Dot in its online store, a product that has long been a favorite of Amazon Prime members.
The Alexa Dot is an Alexa-powered speaker that lets you speak directly to Alexa, or you can use voice commands to play music and video, Amazon said.
The Echo Dot is available in more than 100 colors.
The Amazon Echo is available on a variety of smart home and other gadgets including the Echo Show and Echo Tap.
